2011/2012 Indoor information
Senior men and women interested in indoor this season please contact Nicola Ogden ASAP who is coordinating the Senior team nominations to Hockey WA
Juniors - There are three ways to get involved:
1. EVENT: Junior Indoor State Championships
AGE GROUPS: U14 and U17
DATES: 14, 15 and 16 October 2011
VENUE: Loftus Recreation Centre
COST: $330 per team
This three-day event will act as the first round of trials for the U15 and U18 State Indoor Teams, and any players wishing to nominate for either State Team will need to participate. There are two divisions, A and B, in each age group. This event is probably not suitable for U12 players, unless they are experienced at indoor hockey. (NB: Due to the different age groups in the two competitions, it may be necessary to move some players between teams to meet the eligibility criteria. If you are a beginner, you may want to skip the State Championships, and just have a go at the regular season.)
2. EVENT: Junior Indoor Season
AGE GROUPS: U12, U14 and U16
DATES: Friday Nights, 4 November to 16 December
TIMES: U12 5.10 pm and 5.50 pm; U14 6.30 pm and 7.20 pm; U16 8.10 pm and 9.00 pm
VENUES: Lumen Christi College, Gosnells and Swan Park Recreation Centre, Midvale
COST: $350 per team (U12) or $390 per team (U14 and U16)
This will be a short, six-week season with one week of finals.
3. EVENT: Junior Indoor HockeyWA clinic
Hockey WA are running an Indoor clinic Oct 4 and 5 - click here for info, and here for clinic registration form (contact Hockey WA direct to register for this clinic)
As this is the first time the club has been involved in organizing indoor junior teams during what is traditionally our “off” season, we really have no idea of how many players or teams we are likely to have, and we do not have an official “Indoor Co-ordinator”. We are therefore encouraging players to talk to others in their own team and within their age-group, to try to form their own teams where possible. (Please note that if you have friends who play for a different club during the winter season, they are allowed to play for us during the indoor competitions, so ask around at school if you are short of players!) You need a minimum of six players to form a team, but seven or eight would be preferable. You also need to nominate an umpire with your team.
Once you have organised your team, please contact Jodi Reynolds or Janine Tate, as we have volunteered to liaise with Hockey WA and register Melville’s teams.
If you would like to play, but cannot find enough players to form your own team, please let us know. We will do our best to match people up, but we can’t guarantee there will be a team for everyone.
