“Light Training”
In April 2000, the late Ian Deveson (Life member), the late Max Reynolds (Life member)
and Colin Willis (Life member) agreed to attend “Light Training“ each and every Thursday evening between 6:30 and 8:00 pm regardless of the weather.
They would meet, have a “Light” beer, and do a lap around the old original light tower holding their beers on their heads to complete their “Training Under Lights”.
Ian named this the MOFTA group and was the inaugural President.
Merchandise
In 2011, with numbers growing, the group decided to formally acknowledge itself and organise branded hats and later shirts. Members are required to wear their hats and shirts to training on Thursday evenings, where they meet for a meal and a chat.
25 Years On..
From that first training session a quarter of a century ago, the group has grown to 41 today. The group work behind the scenes at most club events, assisting with busy bees, fund raising and cooking up a storm on the BBQ at the annual top squad breakfast. It is great to see to see their continued involvement with the club, even after their playing days are over.
